The interview of the
week with Mr. Traian Badulescu - chief redactor of “ANAT
Media”
1.infotravelromania.ro:
Please, tell us a few words about ANAT MEDIA.
T.B.: The first
number of the revue ANAT MEDIA was published during the International
Tourism Meeting from Romexpo, in October 2003. So, our revue will have
soon one year, and we will have the certitude of surviving. The idea of
this revue is older than one year. If you will permit me to say it, I
can tell you that everything started with the weekly paper “Touristy
day”, published since 2997 till 2002, opened by Marian Constantinescu.
There I was a department chief. This paper prefigured a new style in the
tourism press, dynamic, centered on the action, analyze, on the economical
area. The disappearance of this paper, in December 2002 left a hole in
the market. The National Association of the Travel Agencies (ANAT) was
the first tourism organization that saw the necessity of publishing a
revue, with a lobby and information role. The proposal of editing a revue
was sustained many times in 2002 and 2003, especially by Mr. Marcel Badescu
– the honorific president of ANAT.
He also is the “spiritual father of the revue”. The 2 names
that I mentioned were the 2 persons that formed and influenced a lot my
career and I own
them a lot of respect. They influenced, directly or indirectly, the orientation
of the revue. Starting June 2003, I had many discussions with Mr. Badescu
and we prefigured a first structure. Then to this idea come along Mr.
Marian Cojocarescu, member of ANAT. He also wanted the opening of a revue
of the association. The revue is edited by ANAT and a partner that I represent
– ‘Retelcard’. I would like to remind the good collaboration
with the publishing house “Almatea”, which makes the technical
part, the graphic conception and the printing. The revue has 1000 or 2000
copies, after the period and the events.
But, without exaggerating, I can say that ANAT MEDIA is the only touristy
publication 100% efficient from Romania that reaches all the reference
factors from the touristy industry: tourism agencies, air companies, hotels
and big restaurants, transport and renting companies, embassies, ministries,
Senate and the Deputation Room (to the specialty commissions), personalities
and the decision factors, the National Authority for the Tourism, The
Transport, Construction and Tourism Minister and the bureaus of touristy
promotion abroad. The publication is distributed for free. In the present
it is a non profit activity, with the mention that it will sustain itself
after the model of similar publications from ECTAA. The revue does not
have a commercial purpose, but it has to sustain itself. The difference
between the costs and capital it will be always be used for the development
of the revue.
2.infotravelromania.ro: what is the time interval between
the numbers of the revue and which is the targeted public?
T.B. The revue
is published once a month. The targeted public is formed by owners of
tourism agencies, specialists, tourism workers, representatives of tourism
organizations, specialized teachers. The main targets are the tourism
agencies and their partners. If the devise of “Touristy Day”
it was “only the one that moves is wrong” (which is my devise
in life), the devise of ANAT MEDIA is “the interaction creates the
action”. So, I think that I said it all: the publication wants to
create communication efficient bonds between the tourism agencies and
the agents or partners or governmental institutions.
3.infotravelromania.ro: Why you did not succeeded to
appear at a fixed date since now?
T.B.: In the ANAT MEDIA there was this year many positive changes- the
most important was the election on may. The revue showed these events,
some of the numbers being published to reach all the ANAT MEDIA members
before the big events as The International Tourism Meeting or the General
Union.
Even if this revue didn’t appeared at a fix date, I cannot say that
it was late. Contrary some of the numbers were earlier because of the
events. Our intention is that starting September the revue to appear at
the end of the month for the next month as it is practiced in occident.
4.infotravelromania.ro:
How it develops this revue?
T.B.: I can guarantee that the next year, if the things are going well,
the revue will pass to a new position. I am already working to a development
project of this revue solicited by ANAT MEDIA. All depends on the quality
of information, on the feed-back received and on the money from publicity
and partnerships. We will increase the numbers of the revue and the number
of pages. Anyway, I and the ANAT MEDIA board prefer the step by step development.
It is risky to go faster, because you can destroy all. Initially, the
redaction is formed by me and the Coordinating Comity from ANAT MEDIA:
Marcel Badescu (initiator), Petre Balas (the president of the Mass media
Relation Comity, the actual coordinator from ANAT), Alin Burcea, Marian
Cojocarescu (ANAT members), Andrei Robotin (general secretary of ANAT)
and Maria Salcianu (the director of ANAT). We also have in the redaction
Mr. Merced Draghici – the actual adjunct secretary of ANAT, doctored
in tourism and specialized in journalism. Since September, our redaction
will increase with a new member, Roxana Grigorean. I hope that the development
of the revue to by related with the development of ANAT and that the publishing
to bring an important help to the development of the association.
As Peter Drucker said, the creator of management new concept, “the
best method to prevent the future is to create it”. We will enter
the European Union and our agencies will have to adapt. On the other side
they will have a bigger need of information. Almost all the agencies from
European Union have their own publication, which helps to create the future.
But, as the financial American expert Robert Kiyosaki said, “it
is not important where you go, but where you stand”, it is essential
to focus on the present, on maintaining the quality of the revue.
5.infotravelromania.ro:
Why you don’t try to increase the number of pages?
T.B.: We want
to increase the number of pages, but we will do it gradually. Probably
in the near future we will have 24 pages, than 32 pages, based on the
impact and financial resources. In the present we focus on the quality
of the information and not on the quantity. We will increase the pages
if we feel the need.
6.infotravelromania.ro: Which is the difference between
ANAT MEDIA and other profile publications?
T.B.: My dream
was that the redaction to be formed, beside the redactors and journalists,
by the tourism agents. It is right that ANAT MEDIA is the only publication
that printed a few articles signed by owners and tourism workers and other
specialists and university teachers whom I thank now. Already other publications
borrowed our style. I am glad that ANAT MEDIA represents a pioneer, being
the first publication of a tourism Romanian organization. A few months
later appeared the revue “Country vacation” of the National
Association of Rural, Ecological and Cultural Tourism. ANAT MEDIA is a
specialized publication, for lobby and information. The target is not
the big public, but those who work with the great public, specialists
or specialists trainers. ANAT MEDIA already is the provider of the information.
Maybe sometime ANAT MEDIA will be the partner of many publications and
it will have a revue for the large public. But, one step at the time.
7.infotravelromania.ro: when it will be actualized the
web site of the revue http://anat.greensystems.ro?
T.B.: The web
site is under construction. It will be updated this week. We consider
that in the present, if you are not on the internet, you don’t exist.
ANAT MEDIA needed a web site. Soon out revue will be accessed directly
on our web site www.anat.org.ro.
